I was given several necklaces that came in these boxes. But the necklaces have long since been stored in my jewelry box; I didn't even realize that I still had these. These would be great for taking necklaces on a trip, but my travel jewelry box has a necklace section, so I don't need them.<br />

Yet more bedding that was going unused, just taking up space in our linen closet. I really don't know how we accumulated so much, but the linen closet looks so much better now that we've been getting rid of the extra.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
This was given to me as a present, even though I am not Catholic. I would actually hate to be a Catholic in the Seattle area. The archbishop here is involved in both the attack on nuns whose efforts are focused on making the world a better place, rather than spreading discrimination and hate, as well as trying to get Washington state's marriage equality law overturned. Suffice it to say that I don't think this belongs in my home.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
Certainly this is a functional item, but it's just not something we need. If memories and information were as easy to purge as items, I might choose to forget my locker combination from seventh grade. That's not something I need, either. Unfortunately, I've yet to figure out how to selectively de-clutter my brain.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />

<b><br /></b><br />
Things like this are why I'm glad I got my husband on the de-cluttering bandwagon. I have no idea how he came to own this, but there are few things that we could possibly need less. We don't smoke, and we don't like guns.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<b>Greeting cards 1 and 2</b><br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b><br /></b><br />
I don't know why we have these two blank and unused greeting cards sitting around. I would just keep them until a suitable card-giving occasion rolled around, but these are both so far from our style (they feature faded photographs of roses) that I would feel strange giving either to anyone.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<b>Ribbon spools 1 and 2</b><br />

<b><br /></b><br />
I generally put gifts in gift bags, rather than wrapping them in paper. And even when I do use wrapping paper, I don't use this kind of ribbon with it. Stick-on bows are just so much easier. So we don't need to keep these around.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
This vest is so lightweight that it only adds negligible warmth, and the collar comes up high enough to be kind of annoying (though I'm sure it wouldn't bother someone who likes turtlenecks). As a result, I never really wore this, so it can go.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
Several years ago, the Dodgers and the Padres played each other in China. I didn't go to the game, but I was given this shirt by someone who was there. I do love baseball, so I appreciate the thought. The shirt is an extra-large, though, and I am not an extra-large. I also have more than enough t-shirts.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
As with sheets, we have more pillowcases than we use. The pillowcases we use regularly are ones made of bamboo, jersey or fleece. None of these fit into that category, so they were just taking up space in the linen closet.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
This is a strange combo of Christmas, Hanukkah and Christmas-y WSU football window clings. We put them up on the back door, which is glass, during our annual tacky holiday party. But that's always at night—which means that you can't really see these very well. So, as much as I love the Cougars, these can go (besides, I do have several Wazzu ornaments. And they always get prime real estate on the Christmas tree).<br />

Italy is one of my favorite countries on the planet to visit. But Venice is actually not among my favorite cities in Italy. I like this picture, though, and always had it up in my room in college. But there isn't really a spot for it in our house, so it should go to someone else.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
This is a pair of earrings that I never really wore that often. I like the shape, but I'm not especially fond of the color. I much prefer to wear dangly earrings that are bright. So these can go.<br />

Well, we've passed the 100 shirt mark! I can't believe we (okay, mostly me) had so many clothes that we weren't really wearing that we can donate so many and only make a dent in what we have to wear. Anyway, this lace-covered tube top was great when I was younger, but my 30th birthday is approaching far too rapidly for me to keep it.<br />

This skirt was a hand-me-down, and while I like the colors, the pattern is just a little much for me. So this didn't get worn very often. It should be handed down to someone who likes busier patterns than I do. (I'm really pretty boring, pattern-wise.)<br />

Seattle supposedly sells more sunglasses per capita than any other major city in the nation. Maybe it's because we can go so long without using them that we forget where they are and have to replace them. Anyway, I do have some sunglasses that I like, and these are not them. This pair can go.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
I love stripes, and I love that some of the stripes in this fabric are shiny. But this scarf is just too short. The combination of the ruffles and the short length feels too much like I'm wearing a Shakespeare-esque ruff. Not really a look I'm ever aiming for.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<b>Cropped cardigan</b><br />

<b><br /></b><br />
I've had this for several years. But I own a number of cardigans, and this one probably gets worn less often than any of the others. Between the cropped length and the sleeves with the double ruffles, it just has more going on than I typically like.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />

<b><br /></b><br />
I am not really a belt person. But I liked the colors of this one—I actually bought it just because I liked the colors, not because I needed a functional belt. I can't remember the last year I even wore it, though, so it can go.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<b>Belt 2</b><br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpYb92s3wuqPSJMzkp9APOMx3_sageYgaggwGQ1Z9HL0XIhtrw602fZnhmY9vWmM6Hya4QI_8G5khAgjlutid-FSmXIieXqFmWp3j2G83ikL2rst_b1qU5KgAPIJKzZQjQBagnTUhyGgc/s1600/IMG_7834.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpYb92s3wuqPSJMzkp9APOMx3_sageYgaggwGQ1Z9HL0XIhtrw602fZnhmY9vWmM6Hya4QI_8G5khAgjlutid-FSmXIieXqFmWp3j2G83ikL2rst_b1qU5KgAPIJKzZQjQBagnTUhyGgc/s320/IMG_7834.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<b><br /></b><br />
This one was a gift, but again, part of this process is recognizing that gifts aren't obligations. It's another belt that's more decorative than functional. I also can't remember the last time I wore it. <br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<b>Belt 3</b><br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz7XMvHA6VYjOEq2Dg9zYFikYgp4kGalXIB3HDmfp4rkuurOKWgCxgvd_CcJ1k8TZcFFhBwGqk56BQZoDrmg_4LLMB-9epBE4QnCWU-nSFOwJNuJ921Oq_2pk0DNcPVKgbsc1b2fYIWXk/s1600/IMG_7835.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz7XMvHA6VYjOEq2Dg9zYFikYgp4kGalXIB3HDmfp4rkuurOKWgCxgvd_CcJ1k8TZcFFhBwGqk56BQZoDrmg_4LLMB-9epBE4QnCWU-nSFOwJNuJ921Oq_2pk0DNcPVKgbsc1b2fYIWXk/s320/IMG_7835.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<b><br /></b><br />
I suppose this one is more functional than decorative. I remember it coming with either a pair of pants or jeans that I bought, but I don't remember ever using it.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<b>Belt 4</b><br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCL-qpH8nQPrBJd8OJKwuZfbCac3LfeTTqoyyngG6FnLDVUFo0WE6kf3R9dNTRpWzmNnwUL2kksRc0Opu8A0RJF_LF_kqqCYXIwoCslraCFe_VTIq7IdzvvOFJVhi4Uh2sKp8yLwGZ1Mc/s1600/IMG_7838.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCL-qpH8nQPrBJd8OJKwuZfbCac3LfeTTqoyyngG6FnLDVUFo0WE6kf3R9dNTRpWzmNnwUL2kksRc0Opu8A0RJF_LF_kqqCYXIwoCslraCFe_VTIq7IdzvvOFJVhi4Uh2sKp8yLwGZ1Mc/s320/IMG_7838.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<b><br /></b><br />
This one is all about function. To be honest, I didn't even recognize it when I pulled my belts out of my closet. I did have a brief phase several years ago (2004ish, I think?) when I wore decorative belts on a semi-regular basis, but I never wore belts like this. I even checked the length to make sure this one wasn't my husband's.<br />

<br />
I got this necklace from Target. Obviously, it cost very little money. Unfortunately, I got what I paid for—I only wore it a few times before one of the beads fell off. It's not even particularly noticeable, but it bothers me, and I haven't worn it since.<br />

My husband has two pairs of jeans that fit him well, so he is keeping just those two pairs. This pair goes.<br />
<br />
<b>Can opener</b><br />

<br />
Turns out, we actually had two can openers. The other one doesn't look like most can openers, so I didn't realize what it was. The other one is much easier to use, so this one goes.<br />
<br />
<b>Sheets 3 and 4</b><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b><br /></b><br />
The words "she was good at folding fitted sheets" will not appear on my gravestone. Oh, well—I'm okay with that. We have a small rotation of sheets that we use all the time, and these are not among them.<br />
<br />
<b>Jewelry pouch</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Well, I suppose this could hold something other than jewelry, but that was its original purpose. I have enough jewelry storage, though, so I don't need this.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
Some people really like this style of air freshener, so I thought they were worth a try. And they were fine, but we never bothered with going out and finding replacement scented oil stuff to use with them. The only air freshener we really use is some baking soda in the fridge, so it doesn't make sense to keep these.<br />
<br />
<b>Pipe cleaners</b><br />

<br />
These were in the cabinet with our office supplies (which might make sense for an elementary school teacher, but doesn't make sense for us). My husband used them as part of his Halloween costume years and years ago (he was a newly-discovered type of sea creature). I had no idea we still had these, but we definitely don't need them.<br />

<br />
I have tried on tons of shirts since I started this blog, deciding which ones to keep and which ones to donate. In the process, I've learned that certain colors look great on me. This is one of them. I have also learned that I like certain things in theory more than in practice. Cowl necks fall into that category; I like them on other people more than I like them on me.<br />
<br />
<b>Shirts 98-99</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBS3AYvE7m0lgcP8MUTDpD-7ZEiCgvp3YgxrjuF_56FOR72b-1kbWWPTYxl1JvlSfPSxSClXC98eOBb8fDo3nqNP_805O8lJSw1MKC8WWbDclaC_TpJHq1ZCQHsUahEyMA_awX5qHP7_0/s1600/IMG_7792.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBS3AYvE7m0lgcP8MUTDpD-7ZEiCgvp3YgxrjuF_56FOR72b-1kbWWPTYxl1JvlSfPSxSClXC98eOBb8fDo3nqNP_805O8lJSw1MKC8WWbDclaC_TpJHq1ZCQHsUahEyMA_awX5qHP7_0/s320/IMG_7792.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, we will definitely be getting rid of more than 100 shirts in this process. I have plenty more that I'll be going through at a later date, but these two t-shirts (it's hard to see the black one on the bottom, but it's there!) might be my husband's last contributions. I knew we had more stuff than we needed, but I didn't think it was an egregious or abnormal amount at all. But having gotten rid of 99 shirts between us, with more still to come, makes me feel pretty ridiculous. Why do we have so many things?<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
This came with our blender, but we've never used it. We hadn't gotten rid of it yet because we kept thinking we might use it someday, but a 20-ounce measuring cup just isn't on the list of things we need. All it does is take up space.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
There are actually three different perfume samples in here, but since they are all in the same little bag, I'll just count this all as one item. I don't wear perfume, so these are of no use to me.<br />
<br />

<br />
I don't think they are as visible in the picture as they are in person, but there are some mud stains on this towel that just didn't want to come out. This is one of several reserved for drying off our dog. Our linen closet is small, though, so we don't need as many dog-drying towels as we have.<br />

<b><br /></b><br />
I absolutely love the color of this shirt, but I rarely wear button-downs. Also, this shirt is just barely long enough for me. This would get more use if it were in the closet of someone with a shorter torso and a greater affinity for button-downs.<br />

I distinctly remember buying this shirt in an effort to get myself to wear more prints. It didn't work. I still don't typically care for prints other than stripes, and didn't wear this shirt very often. I'm not a big fan of butterflies, and didn't realize until looking at this picture that I think that thing in the middle is supposed to be a butterfly.</div>

I used to wear capris a lot, particularly for travel, but it's been ages since I wore a pair other than my jean ones. I prefer skirts or dresses—they're comfier, and don't carry the risk of looking like a soccer mom. So I'll keep my jean capris, but the rest can go.<b> </b><br />

Between the two of us, we're down nearly 100 shirts! And yet we both still have more than we need (especially me). All 12 of these were my husband's. He was telling me recently about how he's realized that there's a difference between "looking through" and "culling" things, and he's moving more toward culling. Yay!<br />

The bottom five books are ones that have been read, but won't be re-read. We both love books, but we also both have plenty that we don't actually need. The top book is one of two copies of <i>Huck Finn </i>I owned. One will suffice. I think I was reasonably smart when I was 9, which is how old I was when I first read <i>Huck Finn</i>, but the next time I read it wasn't until 10 years later. Let me just say that reading that book at 19 is vastly different from reading it at 9.<b> </b><br />

My husband went as Waldo (as in <i>Where's Waldo?</i>) for the first Halloween we were dating. He painted the red stripes on this shirt because he couldn't find a striped one in stores. His Waldo costume will live on in pictures, but he doesn't need to keep this.<br />

Neither of us can identify this beyond the fact that it's a gold cord. We have no idea where it's from. You'd think that by now, we'd no longer have such things in our house, but you'd be wrong. I can't wait until we only have things we need or like around here.<br />

Another item my husband had and wasn't using. I don't speak French (and though I'm lucky enough to have read several things I like in the original, I don't see that happening with anything by Alexandre Dumas), so I certainly am not going to use it.<br />
<b><br />

These were sitting in a desk drawer, forgotten about. I used one of the still-new hair ties (the smaller ones), and when I took my ponytail out several hours later, it had stretched out into one of the larger ones. Hair ties that stretch out after one use? No wonder I gave up on these. Perhaps they'd work better for someone whose hair isn't as thick as mine.<br />

My favorite thing about this shirt is that it's tagless. But I'm not a huge fan of the neckline or the sleeve length, and it mostly got worn underneath sweatshirts on lazy days. I have enough shirts that I don't really need one for that specific and little-seen a purpose.<br />

I wear jeans a lot, and this pair is the one that gets worn least often. Whenever I wear these, it's a sign that it's time to do some laundry. That is really just a sign that I don't need to keep this pair.<br />

I framed a couple wallpaper samples to decorate my office, but I'm not going to keep this one. I don't like it as much as the other one I have, and am going to use the frame that held this one to frame something else we had that I like better.<br />

Yes, these still exist! My husband still had his, apparently. Unsurprisingly, he decided that this was one of the things he didn't need to keep.<br />

Another "vintage" item my husband had and didn't need. We don't even have a camcorder, so who knows why he had this. It would obviously be far more useful for someone who has a camcorder.<br />
<b><br />

<b>Reusable tote bag 2</b><br />

</b><br />
I like hot pink, I like Paris, and I like reusable tote bags. (I don't typically like serial commas, but that one seemed warranted.) This bag was used as gift wrap, which I appreciate, but it just isn't my style. And we're not hurting for reusable bags around here, so it's not something I need to keep.<br />

Another of the items that my husband had and decided he didn't need. I'm glad that he has gotten in on the de-cluttering, too. Since he started participating, we have gotten rid of enough books that we were able to empty and donate a bookcase as well.<br />

I had thought we were all done clearing out the mismatched hangers in our house, but then my husband cleaned out the guest room closet (which he had been using). Anyway, now we are officially left with only matching hangers, which makes me a happy camper.<br />

My husband replaced his old laptop with a shiny new desktop, so he doesn't need this laptop sleeve anymore. It's made of neoprene, which seems to me like a somewhat odd choice of material for a laptop sleeve.<br />

Our bedding rotation includes sheets made of fleece, jersey or bamboo, depending on the time of year. They are all nice and soft. This plain cotton sheet just isn't as soft, and as a result, doesn't get used anymore.<br />

It's possible that we will want a wiffle ball bat at some point in the future, when we have kids old enough to play with one. But these bats aren't a scarce commodity, and we certainly don't need one yet. This has just been taking up space. So, while it might someday be replaced, for now this can go. I don't want to go to extremes of getting rid of things only to repurchase identical items later (like <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/01/living/confessions-compulsive-declutterer/index.html">this lady</a>, who frankly sounds rather unhealthy), but I think it's reasonable to get rid of a single-use item that we don't use, and wouldn't use for a couple years at minimum.<br />

My husband got this as a gift. It was purchased from a thrift store, and has a tiny hole in it. But he used to wear it around the house just because it was warm. It has been years since he last wore it, though, so it will go to yet another thrift store.<br />

Until my husband put this in our "donate" pile, I had never seen it before in my life. I'm getting antsy about wanting all of the extra stuff out of our house. Less stuff, more space! I think I am in spring cleaning mode.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Board game 5</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRCubvIkxwDHY8tUZF8uJ5OOKuQ-ijZC_mKpXbdPl2a_xj9Kq9koNAzHRAuzJKzfk0LD9jaOYFi6xyXXG1i31vukLtieLC_rxvWIFyFNJFm_p-tPEMyecR4Hbv0sdqgtbEwXX0yJlF2bE/s1600/IMG_7694.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRCubvIkxwDHY8tUZF8uJ5OOKuQ-ijZC_mKpXbdPl2a_xj9Kq9koNAzHRAuzJKzfk0LD9jaOYFi6xyXXG1i31vukLtieLC_rxvWIFyFNJFm_p-tPEMyecR4Hbv0sdqgtbEwXX0yJlF2bE/s320/IMG_7694.jpg" width="168" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
It comes in a tube, but I'm calling this a board game anyway. It's another one of the random items that my husband has had for longer than I've known him, yet I'd never seen. (That we had more than one such item makes me want to apologize to everyone who ever helped us move! We should've started de-cluttering ages ago, apparently.)<br />
<br />
<b>Towel 2</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFjF9bTa7hH6uEXw2oHIAr_yksvbnVUAXdaitAljQ-3KwGHuWLuYLCS2Oi4vzzqLm-YwKyYuFth6Qpdcsj-FmWZ525BWu4KgHzPB6umFYaveRrmxXfq4gtX6ppwmG-fNOY6irkCEDaIL4/s1600/IMG_7692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFjF9bTa7hH6uEXw2oHIAr_yksvbnVUAXdaitAljQ-3KwGHuWLuYLCS2Oi4vzzqLm-YwKyYuFth6Qpdcsj-FmWZ525BWu4KgHzPB6umFYaveRrmxXfq4gtX6ppwmG-fNOY6irkCEDaIL4/s320/IMG_7692.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
As I've mentioned before, we have some <a href="http://7itemsaweek.blogspot.com/2011/10/week-forty-one-items-379-385.html">"alternate" towels</a> that we reserve for drying off our dog on rainy days. They are all old, or have bleach spots (like this one). But having fewer of these would work just as well, so this can go.<br />
<br />
<b>Basting brush</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ8oEUebslq8ChCPWpCzsWuKPIC51rOhn1Rte_lbA1irqlcbQcNnJ6BAjWqVqWhJWGgm2xfz5SY-voeje13P1f-3-eMv5zTGcSjNTBGtrL1CfR_kuggxSEnn0GHMUUWHZCPjvvVlkzAF4/s1600/IMG_7706.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ8oEUebslq8ChCPWpCzsWuKPIC51rOhn1Rte_lbA1irqlcbQcNnJ6BAjWqVqWhJWGgm2xfz5SY-voeje13P1f-3-eMv5zTGcSjNTBGtrL1CfR_kuggxSEnn0GHMUUWHZCPjvvVlkzAF4/s320/IMG_7706.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We have a silicone brush that we use regularly; I can't remember the last time this one was used. We obviously don't need it taking up space in our kitchen.<br />

My husband got the top book back when his brother was engaged because, as best man, he had to make a toast at the wedding. But my brother-in-law and his wife got married a year and a half ago, so this book is definitely not something my husband needs anymore. The other seven books are ones I am getting rid of. They just aren't ones I'm going to read again. If I want to get to 100 books purged, I have to be more choosy about which ones to keep.<br />

When we moved in a few years ago, my husband put a bunch of random belongings in the guest room closet. He finally started going through them and, unsurprisingly, has found that many of them are things he doesn't need. Among them: these four random balls. They are all too soft to give to our dog, who would just shred them up.<br />

More things my husband decided he didn't need. We do still have two frisbees, but we certainly don't need four. And our dog doesn't care for frisbees, so giving these to her wouldn't do any good. Out they go!<br />

These style guides were published in 1998 and 2000. My husband took them with him when he went to college, but by now they are well on their way to becoming antiques. I love style guides, but these are both a decade past their usefulness.<br />

I got this bracelet when I was in college, but I haven't really worn it much since then. In fact, I haven't really worn any stretchy bracelets since then. It has been years since this bracelet saw much use, which means it can go.<br />

Every time I put a gift on this blog, I feel a pang of guilt. But then I remind myself that the thought matters much more than the item, and that everyone close enough to me to give me gifts knows that I am de-cluttering. These are nice, but they are not quite my style (by de-cluttering, I've been able to get a much more precise picture of what my style is, exactly, by paying attention to what gets worn the most and what gets worn the least).<br />

</b><br />
There are a number of reasons why I should love these earrings (they're large, sparkly, and one of my favorite colors), but I just don't. The beads often wind up hanging at odd angles, and I don't like that the center beads hang down so much further than the ones on the sides. I think it throws the proportions off.<br />

My husband got this at a thrift store to wear for a specific themed/costume party, and hasn't worn it since. I know that Seattle is the land of plaid flannel, but most of it looks better than this. So, back to the thrift store this goes.<br />

Books are definitely another area where we could (well, and should) do some serious paring down. With this batch, we've parted with 56 books, which I think is respectable for a couple of book lovers. Maybe I'll make parting with 100 books a goal for the rest of this year. That sounds challenging!<br />

I think a lot of things with pleats and ruffles often work better in theory than in practice. This shirt is one such example. Once I washed it, the pleats never went back to falling fully flat. I'm sure it's not really as noticeable as I think it is, and that someone else could get lots of use out of this shirt.<br />

This marks the last of our plastic food containers (we have gotten rid of more, but I'm not counting the amount that we've replaced with Pyrex containers). The drawer we keep food storage containers in looks so much nicer now! A big improvement over how it looked before. I'm sure there are still more things in the kitchen that can go, but for now, it's nice to have these all squared away.<br />

I've <a href="http://7itemsaweek.blogspot.com/2012/01/week-fifty-two-items-485-500.html">mentioned before</a> that, though we've already gotten rid of a number of DVDs, we certainly could get rid of more. This stack of (unlucky?) 13 did not make it through the most recent round of cuts. Most of these were ones that my husband didn't feel the need to keep, and that contained enough violence that I wasn't interested in watching them in the first place.<br />

These came in a three-pack with the two pairs of hoops I got rid of in <a href="http://7itemsaweek.blogspot.com/2011/12/week-forty-seven-items-427-435.html">week 47</a>. The color is beginning to chip off these as well. But as I mentioned when I got rid of the other two pairs, I don't really wear hoops that often anymore. (At least not huge, cheap-y ones like these.)<br />

</i></b><br />
I am not a fan of Kate Hudson, or of Matthew McConaughey, or of romantic comedies. I am a big fan of the yellow dress Kate Hudson wears in this movie. But I would have to like it a whole lot more to keep this DVD.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Blue shirt 3</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEcAip4SVKYR-3fvc8fT2xJttJygASCMqpkFxLDn4_tKDGo3Tid1Ngj_MhHx84s9e3fWQ0woJsQdJ2mQa0obqAWhmJWCkkcdOfU_I8JwRrpLMRP-SAo6MMuBFwwAsUSohmkmpQ3Q74fqY/s1600/IMG_7631.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEcAip4SVKYR-3fvc8fT2xJttJygASCMqpkFxLDn4_tKDGo3Tid1Ngj_MhHx84s9e3fWQ0woJsQdJ2mQa0obqAWhmJWCkkcdOfU_I8JwRrpLMRP-SAo6MMuBFwwAsUSohmkmpQ3Q74fqY/s320/IMG_7631.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
I like this shade of blue, but this shirt is too plain. Even layered with something else, it's so basic that I just think it's boring. That means I never wear it, which means I don't need to keep it.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Pink polo</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWbCln625EfaWKYC-5fCbLfuxHIgIb0JhJ6rqsSNf8Pn1YTJVMHZAnFGrxCiIBiy4MqwQVahkDTslXYOQSOUyO-maWCXx5zohIkFlDFOgzJn7kKCAAHAIcorlPrC4ttmzE3sWyZVl_q0k/s1600/IMG_7621.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWbCln625EfaWKYC-5fCbLfuxHIgIb0JhJ6rqsSNf8Pn1YTJVMHZAnFGrxCiIBiy4MqwQVahkDTslXYOQSOUyO-maWCXx5zohIkFlDFOgzJn7kKCAAHAIcorlPrC4ttmzE3sWyZVl_q0k/s320/IMG_7621.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
I bought this shirt years ago because it has a florentine embroidered on it. (I studied abroad in Florence in college and loved it.) I actually used to wear it quite a bit, but I haven't worn it in a long time. I'm not a huge fan of the color, and other types of shirts look better on me than polo shirts.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Yellow cardigan</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigNzDeA1JxofQbONShvG5N-x2UpLj10wm3IjE_G91R3DI_aadMOcz57xDtQjXAxoSugKbbu9NFPVClgwL5C8GiB5clbxtjuavw-AMlSNs2sEWtZVYdlMHSKhZu7GWzRY5uNSe9ufSUSKk/s1600/IMG_7634.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="219" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigNzDeA1JxofQbONShvG5N-x2UpLj10wm3IjE_G91R3DI_aadMOcz57xDtQjXAxoSugKbbu9NFPVClgwL5C8GiB5clbxtjuavw-AMlSNs2sEWtZVYdlMHSKhZu7GWzRY5uNSe9ufSUSKk/s320/IMG_7634.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
I really like the material and color of this cardigan, but was never quite sure about the style. It ties at the neck, and I could never really decide whether I liked how it looked. But if I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not, I certainly don't like it enough to keep it.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Kitchen shears</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieVImI-s6cUhFDStTgQIsXfBnYuHcp2xEScxMiqZfMrki5tfv3_23sfKje_rDzdjgH8qSvEi2MWWEJ8RaK4ShJT4b4GJRh924o2JXaVTHYZF5rEPyUI8mNPQ_3MdGbZPmAL0phIftu5Gw/s1600/IMG_7623.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="164" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieVImI-s6cUhFDStTgQIsXfBnYuHcp2xEScxMiqZfMrki5tfv3_23sfKje_rDzdjgH8qSvEi2MWWEJ8RaK4ShJT4b4GJRh924o2JXaVTHYZF5rEPyUI8mNPQ_3MdGbZPmAL0phIftu5Gw/s320/IMG_7623.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
Somehow we wound up with two pairs of kitchen shears. One will definitely suffice, because kitchen shears aren't something we use all that often to begin with.<br />

I'm sure that this has a use—it opens up so that you can attach things to it—it's just that I can't think of a use for it that would mean we need to keep it. So away it goes.<br />
<br />
<b>Random utensil</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYUSF0_azYecIF297TwXv8sOruM5wDO23BoinrVtxPxMd2U2Z9yOXw2xjOmoICAjk2Q3ELW_dI1QoPBFb9pZuZwJKllw8Nv2qsQj80N4wGCKFzOVd_aGUe_ygcPOqOE2ytOcf_idsKnSg/s1600/IMG_7613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYUSF0_azYecIF297TwXv8sOruM5wDO23BoinrVtxPxMd2U2Z9yOXw2xjOmoICAjk2Q3ELW_dI1QoPBFb9pZuZwJKllw8Nv2qsQj80N4wGCKFzOVd_aGUe_ygcPOqOE2ytOcf_idsKnSg/s320/IMG_7613.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This was in our kitchen utensil drawer. I have absolutely no idea what it is or what it does. If I can't identify something, it doesn't belong in our house.<br />
<br />
<b>Cheese slicer</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiivVOp8s2i2kHDWxYdOW1fbb60620qURUlAH-lPIG3n0tcxgL_nl8sO1yhUo3eLxFoKRodEMmxzXI7OG4Te5UcHU4_X8UaDB71tRy_dLbMRUzqdVGmA2SZunl_0RuUQfioH9KDgX2JHY4/s1600/IMG_7614.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiivVOp8s2i2kHDWxYdOW1fbb60620qURUlAH-lPIG3n0tcxgL_nl8sO1yhUo3eLxFoKRodEMmxzXI7OG4Te5UcHU4_X8UaDB71tRy_dLbMRUzqdVGmA2SZunl_0RuUQfioH9KDgX2JHY4/s320/IMG_7614.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This is a cheese slicer. We're vegans. It could certainly be used to slice things other than cheese, but that's what we have knives for.<br />
<br />
<b>Wine opener</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggmbLhOD8kDqedm3BhgqceohfID7DvQWgsXOpmUii5cjiJuYBaDFhDTCLZvFKKI-cY5pCMTX0zYTEiHhP6mmK4NvYd1H_u5IJwVAb8bIb9hohaDditzqGeIgJJ2tgGfnXQML9uVuJYG6o/s1600/IMG_7615.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggmbLhOD8kDqedm3BhgqceohfID7DvQWgsXOpmUii5cjiJuYBaDFhDTCLZvFKKI-cY5pCMTX0zYTEiHhP6mmK4NvYd1H_u5IJwVAb8bIb9hohaDditzqGeIgJJ2tgGfnXQML9uVuJYG6o/s320/IMG_7615.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This wine opener was a gift, and the thought is much appreciated—goodness knows we like wine! But it's pretty bulky and takes up a lot of space. A smaller, simpler corkscrew works just as well.<br />
<br />
<b>Hot pot</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUKCRKbODwjr9LhGSOm1bkW4uLNb-WnScQvbb-VIKaCWXe7Y7QPAJGx6jxKFCkFOhPS2qGfmr2gX94Jq4TAB94xRCWuyuuD90_cs3RTodbp5f5gWPXM9D-tOq-TSbt9JIIdTTWgWJV0LY/s1600/IMG_7616.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUKCRKbODwjr9LhGSOm1bkW4uLNb-WnScQvbb-VIKaCWXe7Y7QPAJGx6jxKFCkFOhPS2qGfmr2gX94Jq4TAB94xRCWuyuuD90_cs3RTodbp5f5gWPXM9D-tOq-TSbt9JIIdTTWgWJV0LY/s320/IMG_7616.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
This thing is perfect for college students or people who have small kitchens. Our kitchen is by no means huge, but it has all the appliances and space we need. So for years this has just sat, unused, in a cupboard.<br />

I got these all as gifts not long after turning 21, and picked up a lot by browsing through them. But I haven't looked at any of them in a while. We have tons of amazing breweries and wineries in the Northwest, and when we drink, it tends to be local beer or wine. And I never mix whiskey with anything other than water or 7 Up. These mainly focus on cocktails, though, so they are probably better suited for someone else.<br />

I like this movie, but have seen it a few times and just don't think it's one I'll watch again. The last time I watched it was probably four or five years ago. We have done some paring down of our DVD collection, but could definitely stand to do more.<br />

This slim little pouch is intended to hold documents—tickets, itineraries, maps, that sort of thing—while traveling. But I have never seen my husband use it on any of the many trips we've taken. So it can go.<br />

<br />
<b>Mini flashlight</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOGRZWyccQE3m7krbiA9XJTGkxgJ9Ryumd2tp0PIu3tK5_O-Pn0m34ifVRNB781C4j4v8oD1N9KTB-IbZIMZMdC3_dYMxNF-Hs2o9w2u1QxAyJFAAmr0xg3NxlZFJvV8jpzhvjY-JXzec/s1600/IMG_7616.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOGRZWyccQE3m7krbiA9XJTGkxgJ9Ryumd2tp0PIu3tK5_O-Pn0m34ifVRNB781C4j4v8oD1N9KTB-IbZIMZMdC3_dYMxNF-Hs2o9w2u1QxAyJFAAmr0xg3NxlZFJvV8jpzhvjY-JXzec/s320/IMG_7616.JPG" width="191" /></a></div><br />
This tiny little flashlight would work in a pinch, but it isn't something we need to keep. We have a full-sized flashlight, as well as a pair of headlamps. And should we ever need a pocket-sized light, I would just use the Flashlight app on my phone.<br />
<br />
<b>Measuring spoons</b><br />

I do most of the cooking in our house, but my husband does all the dishes. It works out well. Anyway, these measuring spoons need to be washed by hand. We have a number of things that can't go in the dishwasher, but apparently these are a particular pain to get clean. We have other measuring spoons, so these can go.<br />
<br />
<b>Plastic food containers 5-7</b><br />

Getting yet more plastic out of our house, which is always a good thing. We got Pyrex food containers for Christmas, which is awesome, because it means we can get rid of the rest of our plastic food containers once we've washed them.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Engrish tchotchke</b><br />

This was my husband's prize for winning a trivia game at a party a while ago. Engrish can be kind of funny, but this is obviously not something that we need to keep.<br />
<br />
<b>Pair of ball and paddle games</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />

We got these toys in our stockings, and played with them for a bit on Christmas. Neither of us did very well. But even if we were somehow experts, we wouldn't need to keep these.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Christmas tissues</b><br />

Another stocking stuffer item. Tissues are always useful to have around, especially at this time of year, but I don't know about using printed ones like this. So they can go.<br />
<br />
<b>Progress: 500 items out of 500 = 100% done.</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Note:</b> 500 items in one year! I'm enjoying the results, and want to continue de-cluttering for the rest of 2012 as well. My goal for the remainder of the year is an additional 300 items, which will bring me to a total of 800 items in just under two years. I think that's a respectable pace. I'm also planning to shift my attention this year a little bit; rather than just de-cluttering, I want to devote time and effort to making sure that the items we do have are stored in ways that maximize our space.<br />
<br />

</b><br />
This deck of cards is missing the 10 of clubs. We have two complete card decks, so we don't need to keep an incomplete one. Maybe this deck could be used to do a really unimpressive card trick. "Pick a card, any card...okay, your card is NOT the 10 of clubs."<br />

<b>Christmas CD</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEZEzItjHQDYqWQvaBm85lZ5V30bkxNqyuwf0sCCX-F4w8ee1CeUEv8k1gjRIU7HBG1k1LLmAnb8BeWeT-w7XKnX3_T0D7rT16gFmsqOLnmvXQVrS9AaIGuzH1vp8uVYXm4P3d5NPuIY4/s1600/IMG_7605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="289" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEZEzItjHQDYqWQvaBm85lZ5V30bkxNqyuwf0sCCX-F4w8ee1CeUEv8k1gjRIU7HBG1k1LLmAnb8BeWeT-w7XKnX3_T0D7rT16gFmsqOLnmvXQVrS9AaIGuzH1vp8uVYXm4P3d5NPuIY4/s320/IMG_7605.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
There are only a few songs I really like on this CD, so I put them on my computer, and now I don't need to keep the CD. It's going to be much more convenient to just have the songs I like than to worry about skipping the tracks I don't really like. I have an empty blank CD case I can put this in before I donate it.<br />

<b>Whisk</b><br />

</b><br />
Getting rid of this leaves us with two large whisks and one small one. We actually use all three of those, so three whisks it is. The three we're keeping all have nice comfortable handles, so this bare-bones one is the one that goes.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Blue clutch</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghAWbLbhKRPBP2lRhJBMX-XvhbW6pwFTGFn1Nnh4CwZvs3t4HLpP2pktJCm-tODZ-NcS9ViBoR0oPu1SKPBaa2Vzs8SW3EqnfI75l3cLraSwIPQTS49jeoVSSRRykhESoTzvzHFWyerM0/s1600/IMG_7599.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghAWbLbhKRPBP2lRhJBMX-XvhbW6pwFTGFn1Nnh4CwZvs3t4HLpP2pktJCm-tODZ-NcS9ViBoR0oPu1SKPBaa2Vzs8SW3EqnfI75l3cLraSwIPQTS49jeoVSSRRykhESoTzvzHFWyerM0/s320/IMG_7599.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
I almost always carry a regular-sized purse instead of a clutch, so I don't need to keep this one. I have one that's almost identical to this clutch, but in a color I like far more, so I will keep that one instead.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Blue tank top</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc42Sc2dYQaRx84AUW24rx3VU2T6OzqxW05sG2eZreCi_2ZFnWD_3o-1yJIV2y-CspgM3poad3DfrPiG8rp-0D3gG7BxRTgPq7d-WUscL-UyREnoiF3N30i23dSINupD7_av8RP_GQSlw/s1600/IMG_6502.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc42Sc2dYQaRx84AUW24rx3VU2T6OzqxW05sG2eZreCi_2ZFnWD_3o-1yJIV2y-CspgM3poad3DfrPiG8rp-0D3gG7BxRTgPq7d-WUscL-UyREnoiF3N30i23dSINupD7_av8RP_GQSlw/s320/IMG_6502.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
This tank top is my favorite color, so I'm a bit sad to get rid of it. But it's too short for me now, and though I've tried layering it a couple times, I am more comfortable wearing a longer shirt beneath a shorter one, rather than the other way around.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Peach sweater</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRPyCF1AtwtngHG1Gh_afH78UxTOdPDoubjMY35gqChhNFZUkDwa-Hr5InOnrPwZc-E1m0ET9iXXU4orXXPUrqeB0E2gsjhqu6mCG47XLS55msVwO2zPmVsuyFW3CP2831aF-HH8OLI6Q/s1600/IMG_7601.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRPyCF1AtwtngHG1Gh_afH78UxTOdPDoubjMY35gqChhNFZUkDwa-Hr5InOnrPwZc-E1m0ET9iXXU4orXXPUrqeB0E2gsjhqu6mCG47XLS55msVwO2zPmVsuyFW3CP2831aF-HH8OLI6Q/s320/IMG_7601.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
This sweater is lightweight, which makes it perfect for layering in the spring and summer. But I never wore it all that often. The sleeves are a slightly odd length—a little too short—and the color doesn't look very good on me.<br />

These are all documentaries that I watched in one of my classes last fall. I thought they were all interesting and thought-provoking, and I'd recommend any of them, but I can't think of a single documentary I've ever watched more than once. I was even able to borrow a copy of one of these from someone, so my copy is still wrapped in the plastic it came in. I won't re-watch these, so I don't need to keep them.<br />

These books were hand-me-downs from my aunt, but they aren't the sort of thing I read. I finally decided on a New Year's resolution today—to read more fiction (I don't have a particular number of books in mind)—but mostly my goal is to get to some classics I've been meaning to read for years. I always gravitate toward non-fiction, and leave fiction on the back burner.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuuX1v2DpPMJ3RrMFfHE34p7uFOzQ66yvsbFUeDtXtAfmQc36QquBW_NVw1jr6VF_71b3tl851hUTjAc5iY-PFR50I4J1jRJbT4I6BrhWW8RV6_hK1rUR1XN_WKM-MwwzBvyL5PWcY-U8/s1600/IMG_7604.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuuX1v2DpPMJ3RrMFfHE34p7uFOzQ66yvsbFUeDtXtAfmQc36QquBW_NVw1jr6VF_71b3tl851hUTjAc5iY-PFR50I4J1jRJbT4I6BrhWW8RV6_hK1rUR1XN_WKM-MwwzBvyL5PWcY-U8/s320/IMG_7604.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I mentioned before that we have a number of <a href="http://7itemsaweek.blogspot.com/2011/06/week-twenty-three-items-178-184.html">coasters from breweries</a> we like. This coaster, after years of use, has become stained and warped. So it can go. And actually, I'd like to sit down and go through the coasters we have, because we have more than we use on a regular basis.<br />

<b>Travel toothpastes 3 and 4</b><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPycNvDXOM78q_Y9Zo6RirvrQWUqRqnDulOICQeSHu_2dHD2GHaDhYYHcdeIadeacs4BikAHPftxd9YqkDcYnBPSLTaHvTM0Rd2czTelLIZ8ikn0WIns9lJl02v_2Qr88oKmbbCLoTO7c/s1600/IMG_7602.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPycNvDXOM78q_Y9Zo6RirvrQWUqRqnDulOICQeSHu_2dHD2GHaDhYYHcdeIadeacs4BikAHPftxd9YqkDcYnBPSLTaHvTM0Rd2czTelLIZ8ikn0WIns9lJl02v_2Qr88oKmbbCLoTO7c/s320/IMG_7602.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
I think I need to give Santa a heads-up that he can skip these in our stockings in the future, because we don't use this brand of toothpaste. Besides, then he'd have more room for the airplane shots that he's always kind enough to include!<br />
<br />
<b>Reindeer noses</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh5na_JXAUyBNlooQCc7WwClSRzmBAF3cTQtd4DuXox6S4eycpSH5uspe9xLKXpBKtNsSddyD-cLOBkFvHwJlqFv8sXK3BNHELffID3lW4Z94PquV0-j7nlXuknXHYQ03-hVeXn7CbrvY/s1600/IMG_7599.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh5na_JXAUyBNlooQCc7WwClSRzmBAF3cTQtd4DuXox6S4eycpSH5uspe9xLKXpBKtNsSddyD-cLOBkFvHwJlqFv8sXK3BNHELffID3lW4Z94PquV0-j7nlXuknXHYQ03-hVeXn7CbrvY/s320/IMG_7599.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
These came in our stockings, and while they might work for our annual tacky holiday party, they would just be stored for 364 days a year and used for one. Also, they're made of plastic, which is something we're striving to use less often. So we don't need these.<br />
<br />
<b>Trivets 1 and 2</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFErWKG2P7E5ZIxKc5z9K5dWWH082sllNbq5ckmVHqHCV5FQZeGthEUNo023ZHHtLd1ygJKMUWxsh7Ry3Ggop18yfOfGIb5cG2gXlzreGAc7p-8maygtqQdxxgr1YrVViOisraZST1mm4/s1600/IMG_7606.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="259" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFErWKG2P7E5ZIxKc5z9K5dWWH082sllNbq5ckmVHqHCV5FQZeGthEUNo023ZHHtLd1ygJKMUWxsh7Ry3Ggop18yfOfGIb5cG2gXlzreGAc7p-8maygtqQdxxgr1YrVViOisraZST1mm4/s320/IMG_7606.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
These Christmas-y trivets are festive colors, but we already have enough trivets. So it just doesn't make any sense for us to keep these, especially considering that we don't often use the trivets we have.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Bowl scrapers 1 and 2</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXlXecjfwbAV0PFm4gV2EfM3nyLNky8OKl4Iuhql26YLMcjSlSK76jAnirp_gl3jfdViDTlJJjlf-JjUbuATMD2qM5-Agxb2N_vs95Jf1CM409qlD7DEsKXmOOO_miTFLIfo40Sy5bAfk/s1600/IMG_7612.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXlXecjfwbAV0PFm4gV2EfM3nyLNky8OKl4Iuhql26YLMcjSlSK76jAnirp_gl3jfdViDTlJJjlf-JjUbuATMD2qM5-Agxb2N_vs95Jf1CM409qlD7DEsKXmOOO_miTFLIfo40Sy5bAfk/s320/IMG_7612.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We already have one bowl scraper, and got these in our stockings. Once again, the colors are very festive, but we just don't need this item in multiples.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Syrup jug</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh947ctm-8aiM5AiNFYm4hfSO6dpTWriSXcU5ZVoeUH09NJPBTTPrwf61CYwRaQcFk4sd1U2QloWfhDIi0k6_RPpAkzy7pt-yXUA7R0Ryv8wYhhlbmKp6lpRm_bJoUeG-fxBNgD6Ax6jaY/s1600/IMG_7611.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh947ctm-8aiM5AiNFYm4hfSO6dpTWriSXcU5ZVoeUH09NJPBTTPrwf61CYwRaQcFk4sd1U2QloWfhDIi0k6_RPpAkzy7pt-yXUA7R0Ryv8wYhhlbmKp6lpRm_bJoUeG-fxBNgD6Ax6jaY/s320/IMG_7611.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
This is cute, but not something I need. I'm not Canadian, and I don't like syrup, particularly maple syrup. I really can't think of a reason to keep it, but I'm sure someone else would enjoy it.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Magnet set</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi441CHt4i46Cc_S31uCkITakCI62DiO7ZcD8GsImFdzwaSh_yp2JSjt8ANsM7laVYA3o1ngf321UaPSdEtNPMW83071kbeZrwPrKbLmhzNcfI2A1W2TYL0v8yX6FCht-y690qShEpDnZU/s1600/IMG_7609.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi441CHt4i46Cc_S31uCkITakCI62DiO7ZcD8GsImFdzwaSh_yp2JSjt8ANsM7laVYA3o1ngf321UaPSdEtNPMW83071kbeZrwPrKbLmhzNcfI2A1W2TYL0v8yX6FCht-y690qShEpDnZU/s320/IMG_7609.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
We have enough magnets, but I probably would not keep these even if we didn't. Magnets in the shape of little casserole dishes just aren't my style. But they're bound to be somebody's.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Whisk</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidEgGHoejVzGeT8SuTo8LqJevf6Hj-ScMSuB8l7-26TgkJA_3XgAiT7v0WP55biWKZ0BsDft_Tk2-ps4E4-upXEXsKg8WRT8VJwHPUNBrDwnPvp_9CUutrT91k8A14mU7kcAqo5pjp1IU/s1600/IMG_7600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidEgGHoejVzGeT8SuTo8LqJevf6Hj-ScMSuB8l7-26TgkJA_3XgAiT7v0WP55biWKZ0BsDft_Tk2-ps4E4-upXEXsKg8WRT8VJwHPUNBrDwnPvp_9CUutrT91k8A14mU7kcAqo5pjp1IU/s320/IMG_7600.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
If we kept this whisk, we would have five. Five is too many. Four is probably too many as well, so I'm going to pay more attention in the next couple of weeks to figure out which ones we use the most. Then the others can go.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Leopard print tote</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGsJquyzvX50ykS1OAufcQzIoPJdRTK01ElWI-UoJn1vXtF9H2o_ZAGk504KpYSWRr_m5w-S9pngxEZf89RdyI1q5v6KfDfIpTxWh0Nc91vqtsDIKn4FHIn7D4RWUIaS1Zc8fKK1_Of90/s1600/IMG_7608.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="313" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGsJquyzvX50ykS1OAufcQzIoPJdRTK01ElWI-UoJn1vXtF9H2o_ZAGk504KpYSWRr_m5w-S9pngxEZf89RdyI1q5v6KfDfIpTxWh0Nc91vqtsDIKn4FHIn7D4RWUIaS1Zc8fKK1_Of90/s320/IMG_7608.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b><br />
One of my Christmas gifts came wrapped in this bag. Wrapping things in reusable bags is a great idea. But I have never been a fan of animal prints (no offense, animals), and don't see that changing at any point in the future. So I won't keep this bag.<br />
<br />
<b>Notepad</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2hDj9mOWcPvh10LXhq_9yNDcJgdO2mMzfGSqSM4A6D1olPWzF9oUYlFDvAdY4zgfHKZddjI12CZG1yAVU80R6pUfPGPtLBMECVHAGENHKwekAgb5JFYvetTopgPc_TpWHJBXrxoCbCjA/s1600/IMG_7620.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2hDj9mOWcPvh10LXhq_9yNDcJgdO2mMzfGSqSM4A6D1olPWzF9oUYlFDvAdY4zgfHKZddjI12CZG1yAVU80R6pUfPGPtLBMECVHAGENHKwekAgb5JFYvetTopgPc_TpWHJBXrxoCbCjA/s320/IMG_7620.JPG" width="284" /></a></div><b><br />

I learned about ableist language this year, and have done my best to stop using it. (For a bit of background on the topic and why it matters, read <a href="http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2010/04/30/blogging-against-disablism-day-addressing-ableist-language/">here</a>.) So I just don't feel comfortable keeping and using a notepad that says "crazy" on it.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Progress: 475 items out of 500 = 95% done.</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Note: </b>475 items gone in 2011! That's pretty darn good (though I guess I should've called the blog 9.5 Items A Week). I feel some guilt that Christmas added some items to our house, but those items are either a) practical or b) perfectly suited for us. I very much appreciate the careful gift-giving my family did. It's the stocking stuffers that generally turn into clutter, it seems. My dad's side of the family is huge, and all the men get identical stocking stuffers, and all the women get identical stocking stuffers—just for simplicity's sake. Maybe I will ask Santa to skip my stocking there next year. The thought behind the stocking stuffers is nice, but frankly, I'd rather not deal with the stuff. It's my hope that in 2012, I can get more of my family on board with de-cluttering. Happy New Year! And thanks for all the feedback and encouragement you've given me this year.Tristahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16061570535451289622noreply@blogger.com0
